I started using copic markers because most badges being sold at conventions were marker and not pencil. At first I was really bad at it. The colors were great but I got streaks and my colors weren’t blending. Then I took the first copic marker class. Now I love um. Don’t get me wrong, I love my color pencils too, they aren’t going away.
This is one of my original drawings on strathmore Bristol with copic (mostly sketch with some original square) markers. The outlining is copic multiliner .5 & .05. The white dot of eye shine is the copic opaque white but I frequently just use a paint pen. It’ll be framed in a mat with a 5×7 opening.

Shhhhhh, I’m hunting apocalyptic shtuff part 2 #art #copic
I posted the line art of this yesterday. Then I transfered it to strathmore Bristol vellum 500 series. It’s my general paper of choice when working with copic markers. Copic markers have such nice deep colors. If you pick three markers with the same first number and the second numbers all about 2 apart it’s an easy way to blend colors and get nice shadows. I used so much g99 to get that color that at one point the marker nib was white again. I never suspected I’d use so much dark green in my life.

Copic markers are working nicely. It’s important to remember what kind of paper you’re working with and how it’ll absorb the ink.
Mike the purple dragon #art
I just took the copic beginners certification class. I think it made a positive impact on my use of the markers. It taught me how to buy the markers as well as which ones to pick for specific classes.
Con tags #art
These cute tags help you get your stuff back when it’s found. On one side you have a animal print of some sort. On the other you have your relevant info. I suggest name, badge name, and either phone or e-mail. Simple commissions like paw print $5.00. Character sketches are going to be by commission.
Check for me in artist alley at your next fur con. Thank you.
